HEMPATEX HI-BUILD PAINT 46410

Hempatex HI-Build 46410 is a physically drying, high-build coating with good colour retention as a flat finish. The product is based on acrylic resin and non-chlorinated plasticizer. Contains zinc phosphate. The product is resistant to salt water, splashes of aliphatic hydrocarbons, animal and vegetable oils.

Recommended use -

Hempatex HI-Build 46410 is recommended as a primer, intermediate or finishing coat in Hempatex-systems in moderate corrosive environments. The product is suitable as a self priming repair and touch-up coating for containers as well as other cases where a fast and economic repair job is desired. Can also be used as a finishing coat for containers.

While the manufacturer has not tested this product applied to fibreglass, they see no reason why it couldnt be used assuming you test on a small area for compatibility and adhesion prior to full application.

Will this paint be suitable for application directly on fiberglass? 

The fibreglass must be clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet. 

Can hempel tex hi build 46410 paint be used on plywood and timber?

While there is no real reason why this cannot be used on timber, the manufacturer does not hold test data for this application.

This product contains zinc phosphate. The product is resistant to water, oil splashes, and hydrocarbons from animal and vegetable oils. Recommended use:

  •  As a primer, intermediate or finishing coat in a moderately corrosive environment.
  •  As a finishing coat for containers.

Application

Preparation of New Steel: To begin with, remove oil and grease etc. thoroughly with a suitable detergent. Secondly, remove salts and other contaminants by high-pressure fresh water cleaning. Additionally, abrasive blasting to the cleaning degree specified for the final coating system, usually Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007). Finally, apply immediately after cleaning. Preparation For Repair and Maintenance: Initially, remove oil and grease etc. thoroughly with a suitable detergent. Secondly, remove salts and other contaminants by high-pressure fresh water cleaning. Following this, remove all rust and lose material by abrasive blasting or power tool cleaning. Afterwards, dust off residues. Last but not the least, touch up bare spots to full film thickness. Apply only on a dry and clean surface with a temperature above the dew point to avoid condensation.
